The city is situated on the Delaware River, approximately 20 miles northeast of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Burlington has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The city was founded in 1677 by Quakers and was the capital of West Jersey from 1681 to 1702. Burlington has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites, including the Burlington County Courthouse, which is the oldest courthouse in New Jersey.
