Brookville is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, New York, United States. It is located on the North Shore of Long Island, east of Glen Cove and west of Locust Valley. The hamlet is home to the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University and the Old Westbury Gardens. The weather in Brookville is temperate, with warm summers and cool winters. The area was originally inhabited by the Matinecock Native Americans. The first European settlers arrived in the 17th century, and the area was later developed as a farming community. In the 19th century, Brookville became a popular summer resort destination.
