The village is situated approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Midtown Manhattan and has a population of around 8,000 residents. Briarcliff Manor is known for its beautiful scenery, historic architecture, and excellent schools. The village is home to several parks and nature preserves, including the 200-acre Rockefeller State Park Preserve. Briarcliff Manor has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The village was founded in 1891 by Walter W. Law, a wealthy New York City businessman. Law envisioned Briarcliff Manor as a planned community with a focus on health and wellness. The village was designed by the renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and features a variety of architectural styles, including Victorian, Tudor, and Colonial Revival.
