Breege is a municipality on the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Breege is located at the northern tip of the island, on the Breeger Bodden, a bay of the Baltic Sea. The municipality has a population of about 800 people and covers an area of 16.5 square kilometers. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 3°C in January to 18°C in July. Breege has a long history, dating back to the 13th century. The town was founded by Slavic fishermen and was first mentioned in a document in 1234. Breege was a member of the Hanseatic League from the 14th to the 16th century and was an important trading center. The town's heritage is reflected in its many historic buildings, including the 13th-century St. Mary's Church and the 16th-century town hall.
