Brea is a city in Orange County, California, located at the northern end of the Santa Ana Canyon. With a Mediterranean climate, Brea experiences warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The city's history dates back to the 1700s, when the area was inhabited by the Tongva Native Americans. In the 1800s, the land was granted to Spanish settlers and later became part of Mexico. After the Mexican-American War, the area became part of the United States and was incorporated as a city in 1917. Brea's heritage is reflected in its historic downtown area, which features buildings dating back to the early 1900s.
