Borisoglebsk, a city in Voronezh Oblast, Russia, is situated on the Khoper River, near its confluence with the Vorona River, at 51°22′N 42°05′E. The city has a humid continental climate, with cold, snowy winters and warm, humid summers. The average temperature in January is -9.1 °C (15.6 °F), and the average temperature in July is 20.4 °C (68.7 °F). The city was founded in 1698 as a fortress to protect the southern border of Russia from Tatar raids. It was named after the Russian saints Boris and Gleb. The city is home to several historical and cultural landmarks, including the Borisoglebsky Cathedral, the Church of the Intercession, and the Museum of Local Lore.
