Boonville is a small town in Yadkin County, North Carolina, United States. It is located at the intersection of US Highway 601 and North Carolina Highway 67, about 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Winston-Salem. The town has a population of about 1,200 people and is known for its historic downtown area, which features a number of shops and restaurants. Boonville was founded in 1789 and was originally known as "Boonsborough". The town was renamed in 1849 in honor of Daniel Boone, who is said to have visited the area in the 1760s.
