Bogoroditsk, Tula, Russia, also known as Bogorodick, Bogorodick, or Богородицк, is a town located in the Central Federal District of Russia. The town is situated on the Upa River, 62 kilometers south of Tula. The climate in Bogoroditsk is humid continental, with cold winters and warm summers. The town was founded in 1663 by Prince Grigory Romodanovsky as a fortress to protect the southern border of the Russian state. In the 18th century, Bogoroditsk became a center of the textile industry. The town is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Bogoroditsk Palace, the Church of the Assumption, and the Bogoroditsk Museum of Local Lore.
