Black River Falls, Wisconsin, is a city located in the northwestern part of the state, at the confluence of the Black River and the Yellow River. The city has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters. Black River Falls was founded in 1841 by John Black, a lumberman who built a sawmill on the Black River. The city quickly grew into a major logging center, and by the early 1900s, it was one of the largest lumber-producing cities in the United States. The city's logging heritage is still evident today, with many of the city's buildings and landmarks dating back to the logging era.
