Biar is a municipality in the comarca of Alto Vinalopó in the province of Alicante, Valencia, Spain. Located in the mountainous interior of the province, it is 70 kilometers from the city of Alicante and 33 kilometers from Villena. Biar enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers. Its history dates back to the 13th century when it was conquered by the Aragonese, and it has a rich heritage that includes the Castle of Biar, a 14th-century fortress that is one of the most important historical monuments in the province.
