Betong, also known as Amphoe Betong, is a district in Yala Province, Thailand, located near the Malaysian border at the southern end of the Thai peninsula. The district is known for its cool weather and beautiful scenery, and is a popular tourist destination. The history of Betong dates back to the 19th century, when it was a small village inhabited by Malay Muslims. The village grew rapidly in the early 20th century, due to the influx of Chinese immigrants who came to work in the tin mines. Betong was officially established as a district in 1916, and has since become a major commercial and cultural center in the region.
