Bernhardswald is a municipality in the district of Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany. It is located in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park, about 20 kilometers northeast of Regensburg. The municipality has a population of about 5,500 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from -1°C in January to 18°C in July. The municipality was first mentioned in 1130. The name Bernhardswald is derived from the German words "Bernhard" and "Wald", meaning "Bernhard's forest". The municipality is home to a number of historical buildings, including the Church of St. Peter and Paul, which was built in the 12th century.
