Bensonville is a town in Montserrado County, Liberia, located 20 miles (32 km) northeast of Monrovia. The town has a tropical climate with an average temperature of 27 degrees Celsius (80 degrees Fahrenheit) year-round. Bensonville was founded in 1822 by freed slaves from the United States and was named after Samuel Benson, a prominent abolitionist. The town is home to the Bensonville Baptist Church, the oldest Baptist church in Liberia.
