Benifaió, also known as Banifaio or Benifayó, is a municipality in the province of Valencia, Spain. It is located at latitude 39.2843900 and longitude -0.4259800, in the comarca of Ribera Alta. The municipality has a population of around 12,000 people and covers an area of 20.2 square kilometers. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. The history of Benifaió dates back to the Roman period, when it was known as Benefficio. The town was later conquered by the Moors, who ruled it until the 13th century, when it was reconquered by the Christians. Benifaió has a rich cultural heritage, including the Church of San Pedro Apóstol, which dates back to the 16th century, and the Palace of the Counts of Real, which was built in the 18th century.
