Baxley, Georgia, is a city located in Appling County, in the southeastern United States. It is situated at the intersection of U.S. Route 280 and Georgia State Route 58, approximately 50 miles west of Savannah and 70 miles east of Macon. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Baxley was founded in 1866 and named after William H. Baxley, a local landowner. It is known for its historic downtown area, which features a number of 19th-century buildings. The city is also home to the Baxley Municipal Airport and the Appling County Courthouse.
