Başcov, also known as Bascov or Bascovu, is a town in Argeș County, Romania, situated at the confluence of the Topolog and Bascov rivers, 5 kilometers west of Pitești. The town has a humid continental climate, with average temperatures ranging from -2.4 °C (27.7 °F) in January to 22.3 °C (72.1 °F) in July. Başcov's history dates back to the 15th century, when it was mentioned in a document issued by Vlad the Impaler. The town is home to several historical monuments, including the Bascov Monastery, built in the 15th century by Prince Mircea the Shepherd, and the Radu Vodă Monastery, built in the 16th century by Prince Radu the Great.
