Băile Govora is a spa town in Romania, located in the Vâlcea County, in the historical region of Oltenia. The town is situated in the foothills of the Căpăţânii Mountains, at an altitude of 350 meters. The climate is temperate continental, with an average annual temperature of 10.5 °C. The town has a long history, dating back to the Roman period, when it was known as Aquae Romanae. In the Middle Ages, the town was a popular destination for pilgrims, who came to visit the monastery of Govora. The town's mineral springs have been used for therapeutic purposes since the 16th century.
