Bago, formerly known as Pegu, is a city in Myanmar located at the confluence of the Bago and Sittaung Rivers. It has a tropical monsoon climate with hot, wet summers and cool, dry winters. Bago has a rich history dating back to the 9th century and was once the capital of the Mon Kingdom. The city is home to numerous historical and cultural sites, including the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, one of the tallest pagodas in Myanmar.
