Avon, Ohio is a city located on the southern shore of Lake Erie, approximately 20 miles west of Cleveland. The city has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Avon was founded in 1818 by settlers from Connecticut and was originally known as "Middleburg." The city's name was changed to "Avon" in 1835 after the Avon River in England. Avon has a rich history and heritage, with many historic buildings and sites throughout the city.
