Atkarsk, also known as Atarsk, is a town in Saratov Oblast, Russia, located on the Medveditsa River, 89 kilometers north of Saratov. The town has a humid continental climate, with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Atkarsk was founded in 1683 as a fortress, and it later became a major trading center. The town is home to several historical and cultural landmarks, including the Church of the Intercession, the Church of the Nativity of Christ, and the Atkarsk Museum of Local Lore.
