Askaniya Nova is a village in southern Ukraine's Kherson Oblast, located in the northern part of the Crimean Peninsula. The village has a temperate continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Askaniya Nova was founded in 1828 by German colonists and is home to the Askania Nova Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The reserve is known for its unique ecosystem and is home to a variety of plant and animal species, including the Przewalski's horse, which is an endangered species.
