Arkansas City, Kansas, is a city located in Cowley County, Kansas, United States, at the confluence of the Arkansas and Walnut Rivers. The city has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The city was founded in 1870 by a group of settlers from Arkansas, and it quickly became a major center for agriculture and commerce. Arkansas City is home to several historical sites, including the Arkansas City Historical Museum and the Santa Fe Trail Center.
