Arenas is a municipality located in the province of Pangasinan in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines. It is situated in the eastern part of the province, approximately 240 kilometers north of Manila. The municipality has a tropical monsoon climate, with an average temperature of 27.6 degrees Celsius and an average annual rainfall of 1,860 millimeters. The history of Arenas dates back to the pre-colonial period, when it was known as "Ilang-Ilang" and was part of the Kingdom of Namayan. It was later renamed "Arenas" in honor of Don Pedro Arenas, who was the governor of Pangasinan from 1883 to 1886. The municipality is known for its rich cultural heritage, which includes the annual "Carabao Festival" and the "Pangasinan Folk Dance Competition."
