Arapgir is a town in Malatya Province, Turkey, located in Eastern Anatolia Region. It is situated at an altitude of 1,250 meters (4,100 feet) above sea level and has a continental climate with cold, snowy winters and hot, dry summers. The town has a rich history and heritage, having been inhabited since ancient times. It was once a major center of Armenian culture and was home to a large Armenian population until the Armenian Genocide of 1915. Today, Arapgir is a predominantly Kurdish town with a population of around 15,000 people.
