Arabi, Louisiana, is a small town located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, just across from New Orleans. The town has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Arabi was founded in 1845 by a group of German immigrants and was originally known as Deutschtown. The town's name was changed to Arabi in 1893 in honor of the Egyptian nationalist leader Ahmed Arabi Pasha. Arabi is home to a diverse population and has a rich cultural heritage that includes influences from its German, Irish, and Italian immigrants.
