Apalachin is a small village located in the Susquehanna River Valley of New York State, approximately 15 miles northwest of Binghamton. The village has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The village was first settled in the early 19th century by farmers and lumbermen. It is best known for the Apalachin Meeting, a 1957 gathering of organized crime figures that was raided by the New York State Police.
