Ansonia, Ohio is a village in Darke County with a population of 1,176. It is located in the southwestern part of the state, approximately 20 miles north of Dayton. The climate is humid continental, with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. The village was founded in 1837 by Anson Matthews and was named after him. It was originally a farming community, but it later became a center for manufacturing and industry. The village is home to several historic buildings, including the Ansonia Opera House and the Darke County Historical Society Museum.
