Amity, Oregon is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. It is located in the Willamette Valley, approximately 25 miles southwest of Portland. The city has a population of about 1,700 people and is known for its historic downtown and its annual Yamhill County Fair. The weather in Amity is mild, with average temperatures ranging from 40°F in the winter to 70°F in the summer. The city was founded in 1849 by Quaker settlers and was originally named "Yamhill". The name was changed to "Amity" in 1850 to reflect the peaceful nature of the community. Amity has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historic buildings, including the Amity Pioneer Church and the Amity Schoolhouse.
