Altleiningen is a municipality in the Bad Dürkheim district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the northwest of the Palatinate Forest, at an altitude of 260 meters. The municipality has a population of 1,800 and covers an area of 13.4 square kilometers. The average temperature in Altleiningen is 10.5 degrees Celsius, and the average annual precipitation is 700 millimeters. Altleiningen was first mentioned in 1128, and it was the seat of the Counts of Leiningen from 1190 to 1705. The town was destroyed by fire in 1689, and it was rebuilt in the 18th century. Altleiningen is home to a number of historical buildings, including the Leiningen Castle, the Protestant Church, and the Town Hall.
