Albeni is a village in Romania, located in Gorj County, Oltenia region. It is situated in the Jiu Valley, at the confluence of the Jiu and Gilort rivers, at an altitude of 220 meters. The climate is temperate continental, with hot summers and cold winters. Albeni has a rich history, dating back to the Neolithic period. The village was first mentioned in a document from 1485. In the 19th century, Albeni was an important center of the Romanian National Revival movement. The village is home to several historical monuments, including the Albeni Monastery, built in the 16th century.
