Alaquàs is a municipality in the comarca of Horta Sud in the Valencian Community, Spain. It is located 8 km from the city of Valencia, on the left bank of the Turia River. The municipality has a population of 29,786 inhabitants (2020). The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot summers. The average annual temperature is 17.6 °C. Alaquàs has a rich history, dating back to the Roman period. The town was founded by the Romans in the 1st century BC and was known as Aquae Lucinae. In the Middle Ages, Alaquàs was part of the Kingdom of Valencia. The town was conquered by the Moors in the 12th century and was reconquered by the Christians in the 13th century. Alaquàs has a number of historical monuments, including the Church of San Jaime, the Convent of Santa Clara, and the Palace of the Counts of Alaquàs.
