Alaçam is a district of Samsun Province in the Black Sea region of Turkey, located on the coast of the Black Sea. The district has a humid subtropical climate with mild, wet winters and warm, humid summers. Alaçam has a rich history dating back to the ancient Greeks, who founded the city of Zalecus there. The city was later conquered by the Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans, and has been part of Turkey since 1923. Alaçam is home to a number of historical and cultural sites, including the ruins of the ancient city of Zalecus, the Alaçam Castle, and the Alaçam Ethnography Museum.
