Akyazı is a town and district of Sakarya Province in the Marmara region of Turkey. It is located at 40°41′N 30°37′E, on the Sakarya River. The climate is temperate, with hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. The average temperature is 14.5 °C (58.1 °F), and the average annual precipitation is 600 mm (23.6 in). Akyazı has a rich history, dating back to the Byzantine era. It was part of the Ottoman Empire from the 14th century until the early 20th century. The town is home to several historical sites, including the Akyazı Castle and the Akyazı Grand Mosque.
