Akron, Iowa, also known as Akron, is a small town located in Plymouth County, at the intersection of County Roads C38 and K47. The town has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, dry winters. Akron was founded in 1872 by the Sioux City and St. Paul Railroad and was named after Akron, Ohio. The town has a rich history and heritage, including the Akron Opera House, which was built in 1883 and is still in operation today.
