Agua Dulce is a census-designated place (CDP) in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The community is located in the northernmost part of Los Angeles County, at the junction of State Route 14 and State Route 138, approximately 35 miles (56 km) north of downtown Los Angeles. The weather in Agua Dulce is characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The area was originally inhabited by the Tongva people, who were later displaced by Spanish settlers. The community of Agua Dulce was founded in the late 19th century as a stagecoach stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route. The town's name is Spanish for "sweet water", and it is derived from the nearby springs that provided water for travelers.
