Adelfia is a small town located in the Apulia region of southeastern Italy, about 10 kilometers west of the city of Bari. The town has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Adelfia was founded in the 10th century by the Normans and was originally known as Aderufia. The town's name comes from the Greek word "adelphos," meaning "brother," and refers to the close relationship between the town and its neighboring town of Casamassima. Adelfia is home to a number of historical and cultural attractions, including the Church of San Nicola, the Palazzo Baronale, and the Museo Civico Archeologico.
