Achim is a town in the district of Verden, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the river Weser, approximately 15 km southeast of Bremen. The town has a population of around 30,000 people. Achim's history dates back to the 9th century, when it was first mentioned in a document. The town was granted market rights in 1277 and became a member of the Hanseatic League in the 14th century. Achim's economy is based on agriculture, industry, and tourism. The town is home to a number of historical buildings, including the St. Laurentius Church, which was built in the 13th century.
