Abū Dīs is a Palestinian town in the Jerusalem Governorate, located in the central West Bank, 4 kilometers southeast of Jerusalem. The town has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. Abū Dīs is known for its historical significance, as it was the site of the biblical town of Modin, the birthplace of the Maccabees. The town is also home to the Abū Dīs Archaeological Park, which contains the ruins of a Roman amphitheater, a Byzantine church, and a Mamluk fortress.
