  • September 1, 2019: Hurricane Dorian, the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin outside the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, makes landfall on The Bahamas with sustained wind speeds of 185 mph, causing 43 deaths.
  • September 2, 2019: 34 people are killed in a fire and subsequent sinking of a dive boat, MV Conception, near Santa Cruz Island, California, United States. It is the worst maritime disaster in California in more than 150 years.
  • September 4, 2019: Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam announces the withdrawal of the controversial Fugitive Offenders and Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters Legislation (Amendment) Bill 2019, and the establishment of an independent study to probe social and economic inequality within the territory.
  • September 6, 2019: India's second lunar probe, Chandrayaan-2, is successfully placed in lunar orbit, but the lander Vikram crashes into the surface of the Moon.
  • September 7, 2019: U.S. President Donald Trump announces the cancellation of planned peace talks with the Taliban at Camp David after they claim responsibility for the September 2 and 5 bombings in Kabul, which killed a U.S. soldier among others.

  • September 14, 2019: Two Saudi Aramco oil refineries in Abqaiq and Khurais, Saudi Arabia, are attacked by drones, resulting in fires. Houthi militants claim responsibility, using ten drones for the attack.
