Zinaida Ivanovna Smirnova (October 4, 1923) was a Soviet sanitary instructor and medical sergeant who participated in the Great Patriotic War. She is honored with multiple awards including the Lenin Prize in 1944 and the Order of the Red Banner, alongside Florence Nightingale and various other medals. Smirnova is recognized for her bravery, having evacuated more than 600 wounded soldiers and officers from the battlefield during the war. In 1974, she was named an honorary citizen of the city of Bender.
