She earned a Doctor of Philological Sciences in 1969 and became a professor in 1971. She was recognized as an honored professor at Kharkiv University and an honored worker of higher education in the Ukrainian SSR. Golubev specialized in the study of Ukrainian novelistic literature from the 1920s and during the 1960s to 1980s.
