Zillur Rahman (1929 - 2013) was the 15th President of Bangladesh, serving from February 2009 until his death in March 2013. He began his career as a trainee lawyer and entered politics in the early 1950s as a student at the University of Dhaka. Rahman held various positions within the Awami League and led the party after the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975. He also served as a senior minister during Sheikh Hasina's premiership from 1996 to 2001.
