Zdzisław Barszczewski, born February 17, 1931, in Surowa, is a retired brigadier general of the Polish Army and an engineer. He began his military service in 1949, holding various commands, including mine clearance operations in Warsaw. He graduated from multiple military academies and led engineering troops, notably during the 1980s as head of the Engineering Forces in the Ministry of National Defense. He has published works on engineering and is a distinguished authority on Polish sapper history. A widower with three daughters, Barszczewski resides in Wrocław and is involved in veteran organizations.
