Fiszel Zylberberg, known as Zber, was a Jewish wood-engraving artist born on June 23, 1909. Renowned for his authentic and lyrical graphic art, his masterpieces are represented in prominent museums including the Israel Museum and the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris. Zber captured the essence of life and labor in his works. His promising career ended when he was captured and murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz during World War II. Despite the destruction of most of his art, some of his woodcuts were discovered post-liberation and have historical significance.
