Zaynab Birecikli is a Syrian writer and academic born on February 8, 1946, in Raqqa. She studied Arabic at the University of Aleppo, graduating in 1970, and earned a diploma and master's degree in modern Arabic literature from Cairo University in 1977. She completed her Ph.D. in Ottoman literature from Punjab University, Lahore, in 1995. Birecikli taught in Aleppo and Latakia between 1968-1988 and held a position as an assistant professor at the University of Sharjah from 1999 to 2009. She is an active member of various literary and cultural organizations.
