Yves Raguin was a prominent French sinologist and Jesuit born in 1912 and passed away on December 9, 1998, in Taipei. He was recognized as an authority on Chinese religion and the spirituality of both the East and the West. In 1966, he co-founded the Ricci Institute in Taipei and served as its director until November 1996. Under his leadership, the extensive Chinese-French dictionary, Le Grand Ricci, was completed.
