Yury Vitalyevich Pavlenko was a Soviet and Ukrainian philosopher, historian, cultural scientist, and poet. Born on March 7, 1957, in Kyiv, he became a candidate of historical sciences and a doctor of philosophical sciences, eventually becoming a professor. Pavlenko was recognized with the M. I. Tugan-Baranovsky Prize in 1999, which he shared with colleagues Y. N. Pakhomov and S. B. Krymsky. He passed away on September 5, 2012, in Kyiv.
