Yury Ivanovich Markin (February 21, 1942 – December 19, 2022) was a Soviet and Russian jazz musician, composer, and educator. He was the creator of the youth jazz-rock ensemble 'Steps of Time' and the 'Jazz Opera' group, among others. Markin gained recognition in the late 1960s as a participant in Moscow festivals and was one of the first professional jazz composers. He also authored a book titled 'Stories about Jazz and More...'.
