Yousef Khasho (1927-1997) was a prominent Palestinian composer, conductor, teacher, principal, and organist. He is recognized as one of the most notable composers of classical music in the Middle East. Invited by King Hussein of Jordan, Khasho established Jordan's first music conservatory in 1966. Over his career, he composed 12 symphonies, with the famous 'Jerusalem' (1967) and the twelfth symphony (1985) dedicated to King Hussein for his 50th birthday. Khasho also created orchestral works, chamber music, operettas, songs, and piano pieces.
