Yoshitaka Kikuta was a Japanese poet and literary critic born on March 21, 1916, in Sendai. He graduated from Meiji University in 1937 and was acquainted with the writer Osamu Dazai. After World War II, he worked for publishers like Shishobō and Ōkura Zaisei Kyōkai before becoming a freelance editor in 1960. Kikuta also wrote literary criticism and was a founding member of the literary group 'Gunkai'. His son, Kikuta Motoharu, also pursued writing but tragically died by suicide amid student protests.
